A biomass digester (also “fermenter”, “fermenter chamber”) for Dry Fermentation is a gas-insulated, floor heated concrete chamber with gas and percolate circulation piping and control mechanisms.
Structurally, the fermenter pretty much resembles a garage-type building, with dimensions of, for example, ten meters long, five meters high and four meters wide. The unit is usually made from gas-tight concrete and is equipped with a gas-tight gate. It houses gas and percolate circulation piping and controls.
The biogas produced by Dry Fermentation is collected in a suitable biogas tank, laid out as a low-pressure tank. Depending upon the power plant vendor, the tank may reside on top of ther fermenter chambers.
